Pilot regional dialogue "Youth - U-Report - hokim" started in Navoi

On December 21, 2020, the U-Report team together with the Nationwide Movement "Yuksalish", and the khokimiyat of the Navoi region launched the regional dialogue "Youth- U-Report - Khokim". It is aimed at strengthening youth participation in the development of regional programs, involving youth in decision-making processes at the local level.

During the dialogue, the results of the survey “How should a coworking center in Navoi work?” were presented and discussed. The survey was carried out to study the opinion of the youth of Navoi on the activities of the coworking center, which is scheduled to be opened soon. More than 650 young people from districts and cities of Navoi region participated in the survey, which took place in November 2020.

Thus, the results of the survey showed that the majority of "u-reporters" (77%) noted the need to provide accounting and tax consulting services in the coworking center. A third of respondents (30%) believe that along with the Internet, equipment and tools for work, it is important to organize the business training. According to 23 percent of the respondents, a library is needed in a coworking space, and 10 percent expressed that a cafe, courses in various disciplines are important. It is noteworthy that the absolute majority of “u-reporters” - 93 percent said about the need to organize thematic seminars and trainings in the coworking center. 78 percent noted that such sites should be created in all districts and cities of the Navoi region.

Based on the results of the dialogue, representatives of local authorities made decisions on the work of the future coworking center, taking into account the views of young people in the region, and also outlined topics for the next regional dialogues.

A series of regional dialogues "Youth - U-Report - Khokim" was launched as a pilot in the Navoi region. Dialogues in a similar format will continue in the Navoi region and in other regions of the country. The main objective is to increase the involvement of young people in the transformations carried out in the region, to involve them in the decision-making process.

In August 2020, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during his address to the participants of the Samarkand Forum on Human Rights “Youth 2020: Global Solidarity, Sustainable Development and Human Rights”, noted: “In such conditions, it is important that the voice of young people is heard. It is necessary to give them the opportunity to directly participate in the development and implementation of national, regional and global strategies and programs aimed at ensuring their urgent needs, protecting their rights and legitimate interests." The U-Report regional dialogues are also aimed at strengthening youth participation in the development of regional and national programs.

The Khokim (Governor) of Navoi region - Kobul Tursunov, the head of UNICEF office in Uzbekistan Munir Mammadzadeh, chairman of the Nationwide Movement "Yuksalish" Bobur Bekmurodov, representatives of youth and mass media of Navoi region took part in the dialogue. They listened to the proposals of the participants in the dialogue. So, Zumrad Karshiboeva, a member of the Youth Parliament, suggested that such consultations and psychological training be regularly held in a coworking center in order to broaden their horizons, improve the legal literacy of young men and women, their competence and knowledge in various fields. The khokim supported the proposal and expressed his readiness to provide practical assistance in this matter.

It was noted that the U-Report team will conduct a series of dialogues in the format of a forum, which will bring together young people from all regions of the country. The importance of working with unemployed youth in the regions, their involvement in volunteering and the creation of a system of incentives for volunteers based on the results of their activities was emphasized.
